Bill Smith - Trumpet & Vocals

A highly respected lead trumpet player, Bill Smith grew up in Warwick, RI, has played trumpet for most of his life, and has been on the Rhode Island music scene for over 30 years as a performer, teacher, and contractor in everything from church and classical music, to shows and local swing, rock and dance bands. 

Prior to playing with Brass Attack, Bill played l
ead trumpet for four seasons at Theatre by the Sea performing such musicals as: "West Side Story," "Over Here," "Pirates of Penzance," and "Man of La Mancha."  In addition, Bill also did a National Tour of the musical "Ain't Misbehavin," and has performed with legendary Motown recording artists The Temptations.

Bill also has extensive recording studio experience having worked with Kevin Tracy Productions (commercial jingle corporation) and local studios 
Star Tracks , Black Beard, and Viscount Recording, performing lead trumpet duties on many jingles and commercials throughout the 1980s and 1990s  including those for the Boston Celtics theme, MVP Sports , Trolley Stereo, Fisher Price Toy Corporation.

In addition to Brass Attack, Bill has played lead trumpet with Bits N Pieces, Brass Force, Night life Orchestra, and has performed solo classical trumpet for countless 
weddings and ceremonies throughout New England.

When not playing with the band, Bill is director of bands and department chair at Coventry Senior High School where he has directed the award-winning Concert Bands and Jazz Ensembles since 1985.
