Tom ("TP") Petteruti, Brass Attack's leader, has played drums with and has been affiliated with Brass Attack for nearly 24 years almost since its inception in March, 1983 (when it was founded by Steve Toro and Rick DiRocco of Johnston, RI). He has been leading the band since 1996. Tom not only comes from a musical family, but also was fortunate to have grown up in the family music store (Twin City Music) that his Grandfather Joseph Petteruti started in 1932. His grandfather also led the WJAR Radio broadcasting group "The Hawaiian Islanders." During the Depression Joseph taught musical instrument lessons seven days a week. Some of his former students include Bobby Hackett of the Louis Armstrong, Tommy Dorsey, and Glenn Miller Orchestras, and Paul Gonsalves of the Duke Ellington Orchestra, as well as countless local professional musicians including Tom's father, renowned local bassist Bob Petteruti. As a highly sought-after bassist, Tom's father Bob has played with almost all of the major jazz artists that have come through the area in the last 50 years (including the Duke Ellington Orchestra, Frank Foster, George Coleman, Roy Eldridge, Pepper Adams, Clark Terry, and saxophone great Ben Webster's last gig in the US before he moved to Europe). He has operated and taught at Twin City Music, and has co-authored the book "Who's Who In Rhode Island Jazz," and many of his students have gone on to be some of the finest musicians in the area (Bill Miele, David Spadazzi, Todd Baker, and Tom Pasquarelli to name a few). Tom and his dad are fortunate enough to be among the few father and son musicians who actually do gigs together. They are both featured on Elvis Sinatra's cd "East Village Vegas," as well as the Elvis Sinatra DVD "Mostly Live" and the Gwyneth Paltrow movie "Shallow Hal" which included and Elvis Sinatra song "Handsome Guys." Tom presently owns and operates Twin City Music, Inc. in Providence RI which is in its 75th year of business under the same family. Recorded with:
