Kevin ("Wiggins") Johnson has been performing professionally for over thirty years in New England and in many other parts of the country . As a lead vocalist, songwriter and guitarist his influences and styles vary from the blues through jazz and funk into rock and roll and beyond. Born an Army brat in Pawtucket, RI, his early family life was spent following his military dad to live on Army bases in Texas and Virginia after WW II and during the Korean Conflict. Listening to his parents and grandparents old 78 rpm records was one of his earliest memories and with a mother who loved to harmonize and a father who was a very good vocalist, playing and singing music was a natural choice for him. The local acts that Kevin has been involved with over the years include Kip’s Corner, The Groovemasters, Big Johnson’s (the Kevin Johnson Band), Hip Logic, Little Brother and of course Brass Attack. He also is a veteran of many trio and duo acts and often performs solo. Since the late 80’s he has performed on the same bill with national acts including The Guess Who, Eric Burton, NRBQ, Tower of Power, , Earth Wind and Fire, Roomful of Blues, Buckwheat Zydaco, Buddy Guy, The Boxtops, Duke Robillard, Luther “Guitar Junior” Johnson, Ronnie Earl and many more. Kevin also plays blues harmonica and has written many original songs. He considers Brass Attack as the one of the best organized, professional and most fun band of his musical career to date.
